Course Outline:
This course is an in-depth study of the fixed punishments, known as al-hudud and the
discretionary punishments known as ta’zeer. Topics include the punishments for theft,
robbery, illegal sexual relations, false accusations of promiscuity, and the punishment for
the consumption of alcohol. Additionally, retaliation (qisas) and the law of evidence in
criminal cases will be highlighted.
